Question 00:00:00-00:00:05 (6 sec)

-- the White House has any concerns about possible House action opposing President Trump's tariffs?

Kevin Hassett 00:00:05-00:00:37 (31 sec)

Uh, yeah. I mean, President Trump was very disappointed that a few members of the House that are in utter denial about the positive effects of President Trump's policies. And we just saw one of the best jobs reports you've ever seen. Uh, outperforming the estimates of 76 out of 78 economists polled by Bloomberg, uh, giving us -- uh, let's go through it, uh, the best labor force participation that we've had since 2001, uh, the lowest share of federal government employees that are working, uh, since 1966. Uh, everything is hitting on all cylinders.

Kevin Hassett 00:00:37-00:00:55 (18 sec)

And -- and the deficit is going down because of the tariffs. And so, uh, people who were naysayers about the tariffs said that we'd have low growth and high inflation. Instead, we have low inflation and high growth, great job creation. And even the Michigan survey is showing that people are feeling the positive effects of -- of Trump.

Kevin Hassett 00:00:55-00:01:03 (8 sec)

And so, yeah, we're disappointed in what the people have done and I'm sure that -- that president will make sure that they -- they don't repeal his tariffs.

Question 00:01:03-00:01:09 (6 sec)

[Inaudible] follow-up, do you still feel comfortable working with Secretary Lutnick after the new ties to Jeffrey Epstein were revealed?

Kevin Hassett 00:01:09-00:01:14 (5 sec)

Secretary Lutnick is one of my best friends in the whole wide world, so I'm very comfortable working with him.

Question 00:01:14-00:01:26 (11 sec)

[Inaudible] Hassett, are you involved in conversations about the bridge issue between the US and Canada and are -- is there any sign that that will be resolved, so the president doesn't, you know, block his opening?

Kevin Hassett 00:01:26-00:01:29 (4 sec)

That's not a negotiation that I'm participating in. So --

Question 00:01:29-00:01:33 (4 sec)

Sir [Inaudible] Congress to stop tariffs?

Kevin Hassett 00:01:33-00:01:53 (20 sec)

Uh, I think that the tariffs have, as we talked about in Davos, as the president talked about in Davos, the tariffs have created really a golden age in America, and when America booms, Europe booms as well. I think the tariffs -- it used to be, when -- when -- when I was here in the first term, that everybody was talking about the zombie companies in Europe and how economic growth was so stagnant.

Kevin Hassett 00:01:53-00:02:06 (13 sec)

I think the tariffs have made Europeans up their game and -- and we're seeing really positive response to their economies and their markets from the tariffs that I think Europeans should study the data before they attack President Trump's tariffs. I have time for one more question, folks.

Question 00:02:06-00:02:10 (4 sec)

[Inaudible] any more sales of Venezuelan oil since the first sale last month?

Kevin Hassett 00:02:10-00:02:23 (13 sec)

Um, I know that Secretary Wright is working really hard on getting, uh, the sales ramped up and there's been a lot of progress made getting like the financial details organized so that things could accelerate. But I don't have a hard number to offer. OK?

Question 00:02:23-00:02:29 (6 sec)

Can you confirm if there's any talks at all happening with Canada right now regarding tariffs and trade and --

Oh, I'm sure there are talks happening every day. Yeah.

Question 00:02:31-00:02:33 (2 sec)
