Interview: Justin Dougherty of WHNS-TV Fox Carolina Interviews Donald Trump - October 29, 2026

Mr. President, thank you so much for taking some time with us. This is your third visit to South Carolina for Darline Graham, your second in just eight days. What is it about her campaign that keeps bringing you back? And what's your message to voters who are considering other options at the ballot box?

So, I don't think you'll have too many of them, but we have to make sure she gets in. She's really spectacular, a great woman. I've known her a long time, Lindsey's sister. Lindsey was a great politician who loved this state so much. You have no idea. And he was really a big help to me. And she was -- is the person that I think in the whole world he most respected.

I think that might have included me, which I don't know if it makes me happy or not, but that's ok. He just respected Darline and he loved her. And, you know, he was a very good friend of mine. Really was -- helped -- politically was so good. He could do things that a lot of people couldn't even think about.

And she's got that same gene, and I think she's going to do really well. So, I'm only here to make sure everything goes well. You know, I won the state all three times in record fashion. I mean, we -- millions more votes than anybody else got. So, I love South Carolina. I love the place. And I thought I should be here.

Families continue to be squeezed financially. Gas prices, grocery prices still high. What policies will be put into place to bring those prices down? And what does that timeline look like?

Yeah. Well, we inherited the worst inflation in history, as you know, from the Biden administration, and -- other than the oil, which is coming down now. And it'll come down very drastically when we make sure that Iran has no nuclear weapon. They will never have a nuclear weapon. So, that's going to be over with soon.

And as soon as that's over with, the oil prices will come plummeting. Other prices have been coming down very substantially. They just announced, for the last three months, 1.7 percent inflation. So, that's my territory. I had to bring it down from very high numbers, when -- which I inherited. So, I think you're going to see the oil come down very, very substantially.

Other prices have been coming down. And we just announced record -- I mean, just incredible GDP numbers, you know, far above -- that's for the people that don't know. That's sort of growth numbers or whatever you want to call it. The -- the country's really doing well, really growing. And once we finish off with Iran, which won't be long, it's -- you're going to see things that are absolutely even beyond -- I mean, look, we have the highest stock market we've ever had.

We have the best 401(k)s that we've ever had. Everybody's happy. And it's been an amazing period of time.

You have passed the One Big Beautiful Bill. Illegal immigration is down. But what else is left on the Trump agenda that you hope to accomplish over the next two years?

Well, part of the beauty of the One Big Beautiful Bill, you know, it's 17 bills all wrapped up into one. And I'm glad we did it that way because you could never get passed from the Democrats. You could never get them passed. We just -- we had some very good talent working on that one. And actually, Lindsey helped us a lot with that one.

That was something -- something to remember him by. But it's really the one big beautiful tax cut bill and other things. We -- as you said, and I appreciate you saying it, because it's now been 19 months at zero people -- think of that, zero percent of -- zero people coming into our country. We had millions of people coming in. But unfortunately, that was two years ago.

Now nobody -- nobody really remembers that, so I like to bring it up. And you brought it up for me, and I appreciate it. But we have a lot of things. We're growing. We're -- our military is the strongest it's ever -- we just did Venezuela. As you know, we won the war with Venezuela quickly. We're taking in millions of barrels of oil from Venezuela every single week.

And we have just things happening at levels that nobody's ever seen before. I think we're very much helped by no tax on tips and no tax on -- if you look at overtime, no tax on Social Security for our seniors, you get a deduction if you buy a car, you can now deduct interest, so many different things. And that's what has made it probably the greatest economy in history.

We had a great economy in my first four years, and I think this one will actually blow it away. We had -- it was the number one economy that we've ever had, my first term. I think this is going to blow it away.
