Interview: Jon Decker of Gray Television Interviews Donald Trump in Alaska - October 13, 2026

Mr. President, welcome to Alaska. You have done exceptionally well in Alaska, won the state three times. You won by 13.5 points in 2024. And yet, in this Senate race -- it's exceptionally close. Why do you suppose that is? And why did you travel seven hours for this campaign event?

Well, I think maybe the people don't know what a great job Dan Sullivan does. Senator Sullivan is a great Senator, respected by everybody. And I think I have to tell the people I did win it three times; in fact, I got the highest vote in the history of Alaska. So, I said I'd better come out here and explain because Dan Sullivan is great.

And they have a fake Sullivan in here; they put -- the Democrats put a guy named Sullivan who never did anything, only because of his name, hoping to confuse people, which I thought was disgraceful. So, I came out here for that too. We can't let them get away with that.

it is so expensive to live in Alaska, you know that Mr. President. Gas is so expensive here, going to the grocery store also very expensive. Is affordability, whatever you want to call it, cost of living, a big issue as to why Dan Sullivan -- Senator Sullivan is not performing as well as he'd like to right now?

Well, affordability is big, but it was caused by the Biden administration. We're bringing it down. I've only been here a little more than a year and a half, and we're bringing it way down. Groceries have come way down; everything's coming down, and oil will be coming down as soon as I finish with Iran, which is going to be very soon.

They're defeated in every way; their military is gone, their navy, their air force, everything's gone. They have the highest inflation of any country in the world. They have no money; they have no leadership. Their leadership was gone; the second phase is gone. They have some people we don't even know. I mean, frankly, who are we dealing with?

Nobody's exactly sure. Nobody wants to be the leader. So, Iran is in is going to fail very shortly. And when they do, gasoline is going to be tumbling down, and other costs are going to be tumbling down. But affordability is a nice word but, as everyone knows and really, John, you know, we inherited that from the Biden administration.

He had the worst inflation in the history of our country, and we took it over and we brought everything down. And last -- for the last three months, we've been at 1.7 percent inflation.

You and Senator Sullivan, you see eye to eye on virtually everything. Almost a 100 percent voting record that Senator Sullivan has with you. You don't see eye to eye on one issue in particular, Mr. President, and that is the issue of Russia and President Putin. Senator Sullivan has called President Putin a dictator, an authoritarian, a mafia regime leader.

He's against that diesel deal that you announced last week. Why, Mr. President, are you right and Senator Sullivan is wrong on this?

Well, look, I have to make deals with people, so I don't go around calling them names. I'm a dealmaker; I've always been a very good dealmaker. I became very rich because of deals, so I don't go around mocking people. You know, part of the reason you have that war in the first place is Biden went around mocking Russia and mocking everybody else and didn't know what he was doing.

That was a war that should have never started. If I were president, if that election wasn't rigged, and it was rigged, you wouldn't have had a war with Ukraine and with Russia. So, I also feel -- it's not oil coming to us, and it's diesel, which you need. I feel that it's great because it's released to the world.

It's not released to us, it's released out to the world, and it's going to bring down the price of diesel oil very substantially.
