Letter to the Editor: Newsday - Donald Trump - Newsday - December 12, 2007

I now see why Newsday's circulation and advertising revenues are doing so poorly -- you don't have a grip on reality.

Donald Trump

A recent editorial criticizes me for having the audacity to complain about New York State and its slowness in issuing permits ["Tantrum on the Ocean," Editorial, Dec. 6].

Well, of course I want to proceed; I get things done. More important, I am trying to build, by far, the best building ever built on Jones Beach, because that's what Jones Beach merits. I think Robert Moses would have been very impressed with what I'm building.

Instead of criticizing me, you should criticize the slow process that hurts the state and its economic development. Instead of being applauded for investing in this location, where I am replacing a boarded-up, burned-out, failed and architecturally miserable-looking building with a magnificent structure, Newsday has chosen to criticize me. Trying to make a positive difference should be respected, not ridiculed.

Donald Trump

I know one thing for certain -- when the building is finished, Newsday will be the first to call to get our advertising!
