Interview: Pete Mundo of KCMO 95.7 FM Kansas City Interviews Donald Trump - October 30, 2026

12:00 AM
Pete Mundo 00:00:00-00:00:26 (27 sec)

Very happy to welcome on and say good morning here on KCMO in Kansas City, KTOP in Topeka, KFRU in Columbia, the 45th and the 47th president of the United States, Donald J. Trump joining us here on the show. Of course, days to go until this US Senate race in Kansas comes to a conclusion. It is a toss-up between Roger Marshall and Adam Hamilton, if you believe the polls.

Pete Mundo 00:00:26-00:00:50 (24 sec)

Mr. President, good morning, great to have you on. And you know Kansas is a funny political state, Mr. President. You've won it three times by at least 15 points, but we're sitting here wrapping up a second term of a Democrat governor. So these voters in Kansas are not afraid to split their tickets. What would your message be to Kansas voters who are considering doing that against Roger Marshall ahead of Tuesday?

Donald Trump 00:00:50-00:01:09 (19 sec)

Well, I can only speak for Roger. He's fantastic, Pete, and he's one of the best Senators. If -- if you like farmers, you better have Roger because he -- there's nobody that works harder for the farmer than then Roger, and other things. But I mean, he's just -- he's just fantastic. He loves Kansas, and I just want to make sure he's in good shape.

Donald Trump 00:01:09-00:01:33 (23 sec)

I would imagine he would be, but just nobody does more for the farmers as a group. But this man is respected by everybody in Washington, and he gets on his way -- his way. And when Kansas needs something, I will tell you, he will call me a lot. Sometimes I say, Roger, just relax, we'll take care of it. He's a great guy, and I know, I hear he's got a close race and I don't understand the opponent.

Donald Trump 00:01:33-00:01:44 (11 sec)

I've -- I've checked on the opponent. He's a radical left guy, take away your guns, take away everything and I just don't see how they can have that in Kansas, frankly.

Pete Mundo 00:01:44-00:01:57 (14 sec)

You know, Adam Hamilton, the opponent, he says that he's not a typical Democrat. He says he won't vote for Chuck Schumer. He's going after your voters, Mr. President. So what would you tell a Trump voter who's considering voting for him coming up on Tuesday?

Donald Trump 00:01:57-00:02:18 (20 sec)

Well, he will vote for Chuck Schumer and he will take away your guns and he [Inaudible] problems with his church. And remember, I got like 90 something percent. I won the evangelical vote, the Christian vote, uh, a lot of the religious votes, frankly, but I won. You know, he's a pastor, I guess and, you know, his church is all in turmoil.

Donald Trump 00:02:18-00:02:37 (19 sec)

It's -- he's caused turmoil with the church because he's so liberal and, you know, you have people breaking away. I had to do a little research before I [Inaudible] somebody. And he was never good for the farm. He never -- he never went after anything, so I don't really understand it. And in Roger Marshall, you have a man who's just guaranteed.

Donald Trump 00:02:37-00:02:58 (21 sec)

I mean, he's -- he's -- again, he's, I think, the most effective person for farmers and ranchers and there's nobody like him. And I just don't see -- let's put it this way, I love the farmers. I got the farmers vote by like 99 percent. If I were -- I don't know why exactly, I guess I've been very good. I have been unbelievably good to the farmers.

Donald Trump 00:02:58-00:03:20 (22 sec)

I got them -- don't forget, first time I got them $28 billion because China was taking advantage of us and them under previous administrations. And I look back and I said, $28 billion I took it out of tariffs that China paid. And this one, I just gave them $12 billion and Roger's, you know, always pushing me to -- to take care of our farm and -- the farmers.

Donald Trump 00:03:20-00:03:43 (23 sec)

As soon as the war is over, which is going to be very soon. We're knocking the hell out of them. As soon as the war ends fuel prices are going to drop like a rock. And yet, you know, I was looking, Pete, our prices are lower than they were under Obama and they're lower than they were under Biden. And -- which is pretty amazing, but they're lower and yet we're going to have a non-nuclear Iran.

Donald Trump 00:03:43-00:04:01 (18 sec)

Iran cannot have a nuclear weapon and they won't have a nuclear weapon, and that's going to end very soon. One way or the other, it's going to end very soon. And you're going to see -- you're going to see gasoline and diesel and everything else. Even that -- even on diesel, we got massive subsidies with the red dye, you know, with everything else I've done.

Donald Trump 00:04:01-00:04:25 (24 sec)

So -- but Roger is the one that probably more than anybody else, pushes us on this stuff and I just cannot imagine, uh, your part of the world. You know, I won your -- your state three times, and I have the best -- by far the most votes anybody's ever gotten all three times. And so I guess I -- I resonate with the people and they resonate with me, and you can't do better than Roger Marshall.

Donald Trump 00:04:25-00:04:42 (17 sec)

I'd let you know if you could, because I'd want you to have somebody -- if you had somebody better, I'd probably be, you know, let's get this one. But -- but I know them all. I know them all. I know the Senators. I know the good ones, I know the bad ones and some aren't -- I'm not thrilled with some, to be honest.

Donald Trump 00:04:42-00:04:45 (3 sec)

But with Roger Marshall, it's not even a contest.

Pete Mundo 00:04:45-00:05:00 (16 sec)

President Trump, president 45 and 47, joining us here on the show. All right, Mr. President, on that note, you know, I know you're not going to telegraph any military plans here, but then what is the end game look like? And are we looking at something here coming up after Tuesday that puts a -- puts a bow on this whole deal?

Donald Trump 00:05:00-00:05:22 (22 sec)

Well it's going to get wrapped up soon. Don't forget, Iran -- I didn't start the war with Iran, they started the war with us, 1979. They were brutal for many, many years. And, you know, I guess in terms of -- everyone says 47 years, they said -- well, it's really now, they've been saying that for a long time, like four years, it's 51, 51, 52 years.

Donald Trump 00:05:22-00:05:44 (22 sec)

It's, uh, they've been absolutely horrible to the world, the bully of the Middle East, but they killed many Americans. The SS Cole was their baby. Uh, they killed with the, you know, Soleimani, who I wiped out in my first -- General Soleimani, he was an evil genius but we took him out. And the reason we took him out, he was the father of the roadside bomb.

Donald Trump 00:05:44-00:06:10 (26 sec)

You know, bombs, they plant them in the road, they blow up our soldiers. We lost a lot of soldiers. And those -- those that didn't get lost to have no legs, they have no arms, in many cases. And, uh, I took him out. And, you know, they've been -- this has been a thing raging for years. And other presidents should have done it. And, you know, I appreciate that Roger sticks with me. A lot of people don't have the courage to -- even though they know it has to be done, and we're there.

Donald Trump 00:06:10-00:06:33 (23 sec)

So as an example, they have 159 ships, had, 159 ships. They're all at the bottom of the sea. They don't have one ship. Their airplanes, 268 airplanes, they're all scattered all over the runways in little -- little, tiny pieces. They're all gone. Their radars gone, their anti-aircraft is gone. Frankly, their leaders are gone.

Donald Trump 00:06:33-00:06:48 (15 sec)

It's a little problem. I mean, the leaders are so gone we don't know who to negotiate with, but these are minor details. And they want to make a deal but, you know, they've got to make a deal. I guarantee -- we need a guarantee there'll never be a nuclear weapon. Barack Hussein Obama signed one of the dumbest deals.

Donald Trump 00:06:48-00:07:08 (20 sec)

He signed a lot of dumb deals, but this was a deal, the JCPOA, it was the Iran nuclear deal. It was a road to a nuclear weapon. If they had a nuclear weapon, I probably wouldn't be talking to you right now. I'd be saying, well, and we'd be addressing them as sir, and I'm not going to address them as sir because they've been very evil.

Donald Trump 00:07:08-00:07:26 (17 sec)

They are the number one state sponsor of terror in the world. They would use the nuclear weapon -- the only question, would it be the first hour of the first day? They would use it. They'd blow up the Middle East, and then they'd hit Europe, they'd hit us, you know, whatever. They'd take out cities if they had the opportunity.

Donald Trump 00:07:26-00:07:44 (18 sec)

They wouldn't even think about it. They're very crazed people. So we have to do it right and -- and we have. And this should have been done long before I came along, should have been done by Obama. He -- he gave them -- you know, he thought he could buy his way out. He ended up $1.7 billion in cash, do you remember?

Donald Trump 00:07:44-00:08:05 (21 sec)

He filled up a Boeing 757, took out all the seats, and they piled green cash from Maryland, the Maryland banks, you know, surrounding DC, from DC, Maryland and Virginia. And they stuffed it with $1.7 billion. That's when I knew the presidency was powerful, when you can do that. I think it was totally illegal, what he did.

Donald Trump 00:08:05-00:08:26 (21 sec)

But anyway, but he gave them $1.7 billion. They flew it over to -- to, right, I think right smack in the middle of the country, someplace, like they called it a loading zone. I call it an unloading zone. They unloaded cash. And it's just, uh, it's just terrible. And then gave them tens of billions of dollars before that.

Donald Trump 00:08:26-00:08:47 (21 sec)

And basically, he gave them -- he gave them the road and the money to do a nuclear weapon. They had no constraints. And, you know, they talk about that agreement. That agreement expired two years ago, totally expired. It was a road to a nuclear weapon. If they had a nuclear weapon, uh, you wouldn't be able to deal with them, you wouldn't be able to deal, and worse than that.

Pete Mundo 00:08:47-00:09:03 (16 sec)

Mr. President, you got some very good economic numbers yesterday, Q3 GDP grew 3.4 percent. But, you know, you see all these polls, make of them what you want. People say affordability still is a top concern. So how do you get those strong numbers to translate down to the folks?

Donald Trump 00:09:03-00:09:27 (23 sec)

Well, we have fake news. Look, I inherited, and I think you know this, Pete, I inherited the worst inflation in the history of our country. They say it's 48 years, but -- so you could say that if you want but I don't believe that. I think it was the worst ever. And a 21 percent inflation, actual inflation and I even believe it was higher than that, because we had a president didn't know what he was doing.

Donald Trump 00:09:27-00:09:47 (20 sec)

I mean, he wasn't -- he wasn't fit to be president. He wasn't fit 30 years ago to be president either, by the way but he wasn't fit. And I inherited the worst inflation, the highest prices. Eggs. Do you remember my first day when I gave a news conference my first day, right after the January 20th, I guess on January 21st. I gave a news conference and the media screaming to me about egg prices.

Donald Trump 00:09:47-00:10:07 (20 sec)

I said, I just got here. I haven't been here for 24 hours. I mean, I was there for like a few hours, I have a news conference and they're screaming at me about eggs are four times higher than they were under my administration. And I said, give me a little chance, I just got here. They started screaming and they used the word affordability.

Donald Trump 00:10:07-00:10:32 (25 sec)

The first time I heard it used in this context, they're screaming affordability, affordability. I said, well, wait a minute. You know, I just got here. And I agree with you, the prices are way too high. They didn't know what they were doing. We also had a border that was, you know, where millions of criminals poured into our country, and I closed it. You know, we have 18 months right now, 18 months of zero people coming through our southern border.

Donald Trump 00:10:32-00:10:55 (23 sec)

Nobody thought it was even possible. Remember, Biden said, I need legislation for that as millions were pouring in. And I said, no, you just need a new president, and that's what happened. I closed the -- Border Patrol was unbelievable, ICE, the Border Patrol, law enforcement. And for 18 -- it's now 18. I think it's the 18th consecutive month, we've had zero.

Donald Trump 00:10:55-00:11:18 (23 sec)

And the people that do that are lean left people. These are people that would love to say millions are flowing in. We have nobody coming in. I built 2,000 miles of wall and the thing is nice. And the reason I love this guy is that he was with me all the way. Roger Marshall was with me as much as any. We had some great people with us. Roger Marshall was right in that group of great people.

Pete Mundo 00:11:18-00:11:28 (9 sec)

Mr. President, as you look at what's going on up in Alaska, there's obviously a lot of drama there. Your Justice Department is now involved in that controversy surrounding the second Dan Sullivan.

Donald Trump 00:11:28-00:11:28 (1 sec)

Right.

Pete Mundo 00:11:28-00:11:32 (3 sec)

What should the federal government's role be in that?

Donald Trump 00:11:32-00:11:52 (20 sec)

Yeah, I call him the fake Dan Sullivan. You have the real Dan Sullivan and the fake. Well, I don't know, I'm sure you did, Pete. Did you get to look at the ballot, where -- you have to be -- uh, you need about 190 IQ to figure out the ballot. They put a ballot down where they're talking about incumbent Republican and the other one.

Donald Trump 00:11:52-00:12:19 (27 sec)

Most people don't know in Alaska, and a lot of other states, too, what does incumbent mean? They don't know what incumbent means, incumbent. So they have -- one is Daniel, Daniel J. Sullivan Jr. And that's on top. The other one is Dan Sullivan. Now, he's the Senator and he's a very good Senator and a good guy, also good with the farms and the farmers, etc., etc., even though Alaska is not a great place.

Donald Trump 00:12:19-00:12:38 (19 sec)

I wouldn't -- I wouldn't say it's Kansas for -- for crops. It's a different kind of crop. Snow, it's good for snow. It's good for oil. It's -- and we made it good for oil. We're doing unbelievable. It's unbelievable, what we've done. But, uh, you know, it's a different thing. And I will tell you, he's a great Senator.

Donald Trump 00:12:38-00:12:58 (19 sec)

And what they tried to do, and he would -- you know, he would have won. I don't know how he can win here because you're splitting up the vote illegally. I think it's a total fraud, and the guy that is running, never ran before, never voted before. He tried to change his middle initial from Jay to S because ours is Daniel S. Sullivan.

Donald Trump 00:12:58-00:13:20 (22 sec)

This guy's Daniel J. And, uh, he wanted to change. He gave it an attempt, but the courts rejected it. A liberal group, a liberal judge, a liberal group, they said, no, no, they rejected it. He should have been thrown off the ballot. And actually, he was thrown off the ballot. The commission up there threw them off and it was overturned by a court, as usual.

Donald Trump 00:13:20-00:13:39 (19 sec)

And, uh, so he's on the ballot. So even if -- if our person lost three or four percent, five percent, you know, in the primary, I think he got two and a half, three percent. And that was better identified than the way it is now. It's actually worse now. It's actually more complicated now, and it's a fraud, it's a total fraud.

Donald Trump 00:13:39-00:13:57 (18 sec)

But if he -- if he lost three or four or five percent, that's considered, you know, in the world of politics, you win by five percent, you almost -- it's called like a landslide, right? And, you know, you lose four or five percent, it's a very good chance you're going to lose the election. And it's very unfair.

Donald Trump 00:13:57-00:14:26 (30 sec)

And not only that, they added somebody else also. They added another Republican. Now, this one at least wasn't named Dan Sullivan. So we have Dan Sullivan running against Dan Sullivan. The fake Dan Sullivan never ran before. I believe he never voted before. He's a totally nonpolitical person. He hasn't done ads, he hasn't done any -- all he has, I use his name, and it was done by Schumer and Gillibrand, all the people up in New York and Washington ran it. And I think it's a criminal act, actually.

Donald Trump 00:14:26-00:14:51 (24 sec)

I mean, you talk about voter fraud. Nobody's ever seen voter fraud like this. This is -- this is as bad -- it's the same thing, actually, but it's as bad as what we went through in 2020, and what we always go through, because, you know, the whole thing with, uh, it's such an important thing. We got rigged -- we had a rigged election in 2020. We cannot ever let that happen again.

Donald Trump 00:14:51-00:14:54 (3 sec)

Look what happened to our country in four years, terrible.

Pete Mundo 00:14:54-00:15:02 (8 sec)

Mr. President, I got to wrap it up here with something in Kansas City. You know, Roger Marshall, as you well know, big time Kansas City Chiefs fan.

Donald Trump 00:15:02-00:15:02 ( sec)

Right.

Pete Mundo 00:15:02-00:15:07 (5 sec)

So who is your favorite NFL quarterback and why is it Patrick Mahomes?

Donald Trump 00:15:07-00:15:29 (22 sec)

Well, I think Mahomes is great. I watch the games as much as I can, but I think he's -- he knows how to win. I see those little wispy passes under somebody's arms. You have a six foot six guy running up with the arms up, and he throws it in between his armpits and, you know, under the armpit. He doesn't -- I think he's a great quarterback.

Donald Trump 00:15:29-00:15:44 (15 sec)

I think you have a great tight end. You have a really -- and you know what you have, you have a great coach. That guy, I followed Andy Reid when he was in Philadelphia. He won. I couldn't believe when Philadelphia got rid -- I don't know, maybe he left, I don't know. I would imagine, because he did great in Philadelphia too.

Donald Trump 00:15:44-00:16:02 (18 sec)

Didn't win quite the big one, but now he has -- I think Andy Reid -- I don't know what his -- his persuasion is. I heard he's a good Trump person, but, you know, probably if he wasn't I wouldn't be saying this but I have heard that, but I think you have a great coach. Mahomes is an unbelievable quarterback, just knows how to win.

Pete Mundo 00:16:02-00:16:13 (11 sec)

Absolutely. Well, Mr. President we appreciate you being here joining us on the show. Thank you for your kind words off the air on our fourth child and first son coming up in April, so we're very excited. Thank you for that.

Donald Trump 00:16:13-00:16:17 (4 sec)

Yeah, yeah. That's very important. That's big stuff. That's bigger than this, right?

Pete Mundo 00:16:17-00:16:17 ( sec)

Yes.

Donald Trump 00:16:17-00:16:18 (1 sec)

It's bigger than this.

Pete Mundo 00:16:18-00:16:24 (6 sec)

You got any advice on raising sons since you raised three? And I've got three daughters right now.

Donald Trump 00:16:24-00:16:42 (18 sec)

I do. I do, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. And I have another thing but I don't say it because so many people -- do you know what that other thing is? I say, low key, the tattoos. I say, low key, the tattoos, please. But, you know but I have so many -- I have friends that get tattoos. I don't know.

Donald Trump 00:16:42-00:17:05 (23 sec)

I don't quite understand it, but that's OK. It's, uh, it's a lot of people out there, but I -- I always told my children, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes. And if you don't start them -- like, I've never had any of the three, fortunately -- and it's very easy. You know, I have friends that, you know, they're hooked on something and they're tough, they're smart, they can't -- they can't break away.

Donald Trump 00:17:05-00:17:28 (23 sec)

But when you never start, you have no longing. I have zero longing for a cigarette, for drugs, for -- for alcohol. And I would just -- I'd tell my kids, no drugs. My -- my daughter Ivanka used to go, dad, stop telling me that. I mean, I tell them, like, every -- every time I start to say, remember, no drugs, no alcohol, no cigarettes.

Donald Trump 00:17:28-00:17:42 (14 sec)

So I think that's a good start because I've seen families -- I've seen brilliant kids from brilliant parents destroyed because they were hooked on something and you can't let them get there. So if they -- if they don't touch it, they'll have no longing.

Pete Mundo 00:17:42-00:17:50 (8 sec)

Very good. I like it. Well, my brother's got a lot of tattoos and he's very liberal and I'm on the other side with no tattoos, so I think you're on to something there, Mr. President. We --

Donald Trump 00:17:50-00:18:00 (10 sec)

Well, that's just an opinion. They're fine. I don't take on that lobby. I think it's wonderful. Let them -- let everybody do what they want but those three things are very, very important.

Pete Mundo 00:18:00-00:18:07 (7 sec)

Well, thank you, Mr. President. I know Doc Marshall really appreciates it, and we'll be following along. Thank you so much for the time.

Donald Trump 00:18:07-00:18:10 (3 sec)

Good. Thank you very much. It's been an honor, Pete.

Pete Mundo 00:18:10-00:18:10 ( sec)

You bet.

Donald Trump 00:18:10-00:18:11 (1 sec)

Thank you. Bye.

Pete Mundo 00:18:11-00:18:21 (10 sec)

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, joining us on Mundo in the Morning, KCMO in Kansas City, KTOP in Topeka and KFRU in Columbia.
